Vladimir Lobaskin obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Solid State Physics (1989) from Chelyabinsk State University (CSU) and a Ph.D. (1993) from the Urals State Technical University (UPI). He took then a lecturer position in the Physics Department of Chelyabinsk State University. Between 1997 and 2008 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and teaching assistant in Physical Chemistry Department at Lund University, Physics Department at University of Fribourg, Theory group in Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, and Physics Department at Technical University of Munich. In 2005 he obtained a D.Sci. (Habilitation) degree in Physics and Mathematics from CSU. Since 2006 he holds an adjunct professor position in Condensed Matter Physics at CSU. In 2008 he moved to the School of Physics at University College Dublin (UCD). He is a head of Theoretical Physics Undergraduate Programme at UCD, and a member of Irish node of CECAM and of UCD Institute for Discovery.
